Don't Worry. Be Happy!

While José Antonio Griñan, the president of the Andalucían government, says that he has not received any note or letter from the British ambassador asking to discuss the 'illegal homes' in Eastern Almería (and, I expect, to explore the reasons for picking on the British rather than, for example, the million empty homes - many of which are presumably also illegal - owned by the banks), we read today in El País that Juan Espadas, the J of A's housing secretary, will treat each case, one after the other, on its merits.
Which should keep him busy for a good long time.
While the elderly owners, living in a limbo of fear, worry and silence (apart from the sound of their generators) will no doubt rest content and happy in the knowledge that their future is in the hands of honest men.
The ambassador, having heard about Griñán not receiving anything in the post, yesterday sent a fax which, I was told in a surprise call from the Junta this morning (they wanted to know what the hell was going on in the Almanzora Valley), he has now received.

Later: The Daily Mail (Saturday): 'If they come to bulldoze our villa, we'll chain ourselves inside and die with our Spanish dream'.
