There was a furtive meeting held this evening in a bar in Mojácar. The subject was the Town Hall's plan to knock down the two buildings by the church and make a large plaza there with an underground parking for
forty cars. Very expensive and pretty damn useless! The plotters being against the idea. It also became apparent that the narrow lane by Tito's house is being widened into a road so that the owners of the apartments there by Tito (that crane that's been ruining the view for at least the last three years) will be able to drive up to their homes. How? Well, a roundabout in front of the Moresco hotel with a chunk of two-way road should do it. Once again, the promotor wins, the townsfolk lose.
Returning to the upper square. The emblematic Lucinda's Arch was knocked down with Juan Garcia. It would cost about 1000 euros to build it again. Since Juan, we have had Salvador Esparza (who became mayor precisely on the back of returning the famous arch), followed by Green Carlos and then Artistic Gabriel and now Rosmari... and still no arch.
The meeting was 'moderated' by Bartolo, another ex-mayor, best remembered for the Artesan Centre, remodelling the
fuente and building the bunker around and below the Castillo. His souvenir shop in the Plaza Nueva was the one that burnt down last summer.
