From next year, the
small print in bank documents may not be smaller than a whopping two milimetres high - this to help us from being, ahem, misled. There was recently a case of a complicated investment being explained in tiny legalese... and the apparently illiterate customer signing the document with a cross. The new rules, supported by the Banco de España, contain the rider that 'entities providing credit must act honestly, impartially and professionally, based on the personal and financial situation and preferences and objectives of their clients. They should also highlight any condition or characteristic of the contract which does not meet this objective'.
