There's a new website called
Spanish Property Problems run by a group called POPPIE. Here's a quote '
...Without proper documents owners cannot sell their properties, making them effectively worthless. Taking the figure of 300,000 blighted properties with an average original cost of €250,000, this means that up to €75 billion has been wiped off the value of the Spanish economy'.
POPPIE itself '
has been formed to raise awareness of Spanish property issues as they affect UK citizens. POPPIE’s objectives are to lobby UK MPs and MEPs more effectively than can be managed by the many Spanish based associations. This will add further pressure for change in Spain'.
Although Spain is a member of the European Union, as far as the rule of law and property issues, it more closely resembles a Byzantine state.
